Installation Note
If you often search for “BMW crystal gear knob” on Bimmer forums, you’ll likely come across phrases like: “Installation error… shifter stops working and locks in P position… iDrive console damaged”.
Why do these issues occur?
In most cases, these problems arise because the center console’s power is not disconnected during the installation. This can easily lead to a short circuit when connecting the wires.
How to prevent this?
